Become a Fundraising Volunteer
We always welcome volunteers to help out with our flag days, stewarding at various events and supporting our annual table quiz competition. Please contact us if you would like to get involved in helping us to raise some much-needed funds.
Organise an Event in Your Area
The work of Galway MRT is greatly supported by private individuals, community groups, and businesses across our area of operations. These people and groups dedicate some of their time and skills to organising or assisting with fundraising activities in their own communities. Some of these fundraising events are community or home based, others are organised through the workplace or social/sports club.
If you would like to establish a Galway MRT fund raising event in your area, please contact us. We always welcome new ideas and will be happy to support you in any way we can. If you would like someone from Galway Mountain Rescue to attend your event, either to give a short talk or to accept the proceeds, we will be happy to arrange this – just contact our PRO in advance.
Whether you decide to fund raise in your workplace or within your local community, there is no end to the things you can do, from running a race to jumping from a plane to hosting a pub quiz or simply doing a supermarket bag pack. The options are endless and limited only by your imagination. Here’s a list of some fund raising ideas;
- Group/ Celebrity hill walks
- Adventure races
- Marathons/ Mini Marathons
- Bike Rides/ Races
- Parachute Jumps
- Car Washes
- Coffee Mornings
- Dress Down Fridays
- Flag Days
- Five-a-side soccer tournaments
- Concert/ Gigs
- Quiz Nights
- Poker Tournaments
- Golf Classics
- Night at the Dogs/ Race Nights
- Leg or chest wax for men
You can also raise funds locally without a Garda Permit by holding a collection on private property, such as your local shopping centre (with the managers permission) or in local pubs, offices, factories etc.
Remember, it is important to raise awareness of Galway MRT’s work as you raise funds. At every event you organise, please try to include an element of mountain safety awareness. Make yourself familiar with Galway MRT’s safety messages and include our logo at all your events for visual impact. Just contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will supply you with whatever you need.
So, organise an event you will enjoy working on, or raise sponsorship by participating in one of the many events organised by Galway MRT throughout the year. Either way, we are here to help, and we would love to hear from you. If you have any questions or fundraising ideas, or if you need anything for your fundraising event, please contact us at email@example.com
