It may have been a damp day but it didn’t dampen our spirits!

Search Dogs Ace Test
Congratulations to our search dog and handler teams who passed their assessments over the last weekend in March. Jarlath Folan and Hugo worked hard to get to this point and all at GMRT are delighted that they were successful. David Geoghan and Sheeba were upgraded to full dog team as a result of this assessment and we are all delighted for them. Both teams will be a vital asset to GMRT and the wider Search and Rescue community through their work with the Search and Rescue Dog Association (SARDA). Comhghairdeas.

Two men, some hedgehogs and a boat
By Neil Mooney
I got the call. Our leader appealed to my vanity, "Neil there is a special task for you. Big job on Inis Mór, only you can do it" "and you can have anyone you like to assist".
Well after much discussion between our various people, Liam and I crossed over to Inis Mór. Weighted down with various MR paraphernalia, our supposed task was to dangle Griff.Rhys Jones, Dara O'Briain and Rory McGrath over Dún Aongus, as part of a TV program being shot for BBC.
Following some hanging around watching the process, we finally got our instructions - hang the cameraman at the edge.
Due to a delayed arrival and a tight schedule, we didn't have much time, a quick belay (thank goodness for the recent rigging course on Achill), hold and retake and retake the shot was over. Run, clear the ground for the helicopter to take the aerial shots of an empty Dún.
Despite bringing the hedgehogs, we didn't need them as there was sufficient natural protection in the outer circle to set ourselves up. A small promontory also meant that the cameraman didn't have to be lowered, just supported, allowing him to get a sweeping shot off the cliffs up to the Dún's inner circle where the stars were.
Any enjoyable day, made all the more special by witnessing Liam's chat up skills “as gaeilge” on the return ferry.
*Three men in a boat aired on BBC2 1st Jan 2010.
